I am reading My Girlfriend Bites by Doug Solter. I am reading it in my car. I am reading it standing in line at the Records Building in Downtown Dallas. I am reading it standing in line to pick up a prescription.
I am reading it whenever I am standing or sitting still for a couple of minutes and can take a quick read from my iPod, my Kindle, my computer.
This is YA, told from the guy’s POV and OMG he is SUCH A GUY. This is not a touchy-feely dreamboat. This is a teenaged guy who reeks of hormones and insecurities, that all come together in a gutpunch of a first chapter.
Sometimes I’m laughing and sometimes I’m wincing, but dude–
Bree drives a 442. That is the muscle car of my dreams.
I am loving this book, and right now it’s only .99. Seriously, you can’t go wrong.
• What did you recently finish reading?
I started reading The Lies of Locke Lamora a long time ago and stopped reading for no good reason, and eventually forgot about it. Then I got the audiobook which was not the absolute best way for me to approach it because it is told in double-timelines, and I had trouble keeping everything straight at first but–
Last time I posted a WWW I was breathlessly gushing about The Coldest Girl in Coldtown? Well, today, I’m breahtlessly gushing about Locke. Amazing world-building. Amazing dialogue and characterization. The double timeline is effective and by the end, is part of what builds to a stunner of a climax that will leave you gasping.
Fantasy to the max.
